Airlines are gradually resuming flights today at Miami International Airport (MIA) after hundreds of flights were cancelled Thursday because of Hurricane Matthew. MIA said it had remained “open” yesterday, but all airlines had ceased operations ahead of the highest winds, expected from 6pm-8pm local time yesterday. As of 8.30 pm Eastern Time yesterday, airlines had cancelled more than 3,785 flights nationwide for a period stretching from Wednesday through Saturday, according to flight-tracking service FlightAware.
