A judge has put an end to months-long industrial actions, in which dockworkers at the port of Santos disrupted operations and even boarded vessels. The decision provides relief to a port that has had to shutter because of protests and severe weather while also dealing with slowdowns from customs officers five days a week. A Sao Paulo regional labor court has told the union behind the work actions, Sindestiva that it must stop its disruption or pay 100,000 reais ($30,900) per day in fines. The group chose to call off their latest planned action and returned to work Thursday.
